About Us
40 years of Escape, interested in our back story?
Who We Are
It started in 1986 with a simple belief: that Amsterdam deserved a night out worth remembering. On Rembrandtplein two brothers opened the doors of Escape for the very first time. Nobody knew then that those doors would still be open forty years later.
Two generations. One family. One dancefloor.
What began as a vision grew into something far bigger than anyone had planned. Through the nineties, through the rise of electronic music, through decades of changing tastes and shifting scenes, Escape didn't just survive, it became the club that defined what a night out in Amsterdam could feel like.
The names on the lineup changed. The lights got brighter. The sound got louder. But the DNA stayed exactly the same: make every single person who walks through that door feel like tonight is the best night of their life.
That's still a family decision. Still made the same way it was in 1986, with instinct, with passion, and with a stubborn refusal to settle for anything less than exceptional.
Forty years in, we're not looking back. We're looking at the dancefloor, still full, still loud, still electric—and we're doing exactly what we've always done. Opening the doors. Turning up the music. And letting Amsterdam do the rest.
Escape. Since 1986. Still going.
